Behaviour and Rewards

At St Giles, we believe that every child has the right to be noticed, appreciated and celebrated. We use Class Dojo as a way of engaging parents in their child’s education and maintaining good communication about their child’s personal development and achievements.
Our school expectations are:
Safe - Ready - Love
These are constantly reinforced by staff at all levels, and broken down and explained to pupils in age-appropriate ways by adults.
We have recognition cards which are used both within lessons and around school by all members of staff. These focus on recognising and praising children for showing the following behaviours:
* Wonderful Walking
* Marvellous Manners
* Lovely Lining Up
* Outstanding Work
Per Key Stage, the class who earns the most recognition cards gets 5 minutes extra breaktime and this is announced during Friday's Celebration Collective Worship.
We have a weekly Celebration Collective Worships where teachers are able to nominate two children from their class and their parents/carers are invited to the worship. Children are presented with a certificate and sticker and a photo is then published on the school’s main Class Dojo page.
Where a child has gone ‘over and above’ with their learning or by their actions, they can be sent to see the Executive Headteacher/Head of School where they will receive a sticker and the headteacher will inform the parents via Dojo.
Please see our Behaviour Policy in the policies section. This has full details on rewards, sanctions, use of physical interventions and exclusion.
Please also see our Anti Bullying Policy.
